Can anyone tell me what the weather is like and how to pack for Madrid at the end of August, beginning to mid September?

Thanks you. :-)

I was there at the very end of September last year and it was still hot (85f). The locals don't believe much in A/C at those frigid temperatures rolleyes

Wow, really?? I was thinking cold and possibly rainy? Anything over 75 degrees and I'll be in heaven!

Temperatures should range from mid-80's to low-60's. Maybe a sporadic summer storm can happen, but it won't be longer than 30 minutes. Bring a sweater or a light jacket for nights and that's all.

Over 75 SURE. Summer usually ends abruptly by the beginning of October, when temperatures drop from 80's to 50's in a couple of days.
And it's true, 80's feel refreshing after nearly 3 months of 100's.

Last summer's temperatures were really weird, too high for the average, but it happened the same all over Europe. In late August, early September, the night temperatures in Madrid descend to the low 60s, so sleeping in a place without a/c should not be a problem.

I even remember a couple of years ago that I attend an open air opera in late August and I was wearing a short sleeves shirt and couldn't stand the cold and had to miss the last act. It was about Aug 25. BTW, during the summer there is an open air movies/opera/theater/concerts program called Veranos de la Villa (Village Summers; Madrid, is technically, still a village, doesn't have the title of 'city') that is pretty interesting.
