I just read some fabulous packing advice to pack only a few items and buy some clothes when you arrive in Spain, however, does anyone have any advice on what clothes to wear in April?? I read that the temperature ranges between 45-60 during April.

It depends on what part of Spain you will be visiting in April. Several years ago we were in Sevilla for Semana Santa and it was 90F on Friday. Andalucia is usually quite warm in April.
Conversely, last year I was in Cantabria in early April: the mountain patrols were having their annual cross country skiing competition and some mountain passes in the Picos de Europa were closed because of snow.

Well - we plan on flying into Madrid and heading South before leaving Spain for Portugal.
From your earlier response though, it sounds like we should plan on some rather warm weather???
