Hi all!

I'll be in Madrid on Easter. We were wondering what would be open on Easter Sunday? Restaurants? Tourist attractions?
Or will we be eating day old bread (that we bought on Sat!) and watching tv in our room all day?!

My experience has been that the time between Good Friday and Easter Morning in Madrid can be pretty dismal. But on Easter, Madrid is reborn. I think you can have a fine time in Madrid on Easter Sunday.

I was in Madrid in November and there was a local celebration (just in Madrid). The restaurants were open and the parks were full of people and shows. But besides that there was't any open shops.

If you stay in your hotel room all day on Easter Sunday in Madrid, SHAME ON YOU! If you don't want to take part in the religious ceremonies, go to Retiro Park. You'll find mimes and musicians and jugglers and people just enjoying being alive.

Later, you could go to Plaza de Oriente, across from the Palacio Réal. You won't find entertainment there like in Retiro, but you can mingle with the people. Enjoy!
