Looking for ideas on "nice" restaurant for Christmas Day dinner...planning on going to Hotel Europa in the Hotel Villa Real for Christmas Even, and to Botin for the day after. We'd like to make reservations for Christmas Day so we won't be walking around looking for someplace to eat or end up of VIPS .

We're planning on visiting Toledo Christmas Day and hoping to have lunch at the Hostal del Cardenal , but I just read on these boards that the restaurant there is open only for hotel guests on Christmas day. With so much else being closed, should we push our Toledo trip to the next day? If we do, any ideas for Christmas Day entertainment for a mom with her two teen age boys in Madrid?

You could go to Plaza Felipe II, you'll find an ice rink there. A lot of childrens...a lot of noise and lights, very funny. Another ice rink, recently openen "Palacio del Hielo" (metro Canillas)
