Hi there, I know this is going to be a general topic of discussion...but do you have any recommendations of great places to eat in Madrid?
Preferably low budgeted places...or even places where you can pick up something to go. Tapa bars? Nice restaurants for paella?
I love to try different types of foods and I'm always seeking feedback from folks on resturants or food eateries that come highly recommended! I just want to stay away from a too touristy of a restaurant for my meals...

Thank you - thank you in advance! (MadridMan, I love your site and forum!)

Ok this is the first thing that has come to my mind:

Cien vinos tavern: Nuncio st
Wine: Manzanilla San Leon (it comes in small bottles but you will need at least another person to finish it, I am open to invitations ;-) :-)))
(if you are really interested I can write the tasting note)

Food: Cecina with some drops of olive oil. Cecina is cow´s dried ham

Low Budget - La Farfella on c/de Santa Maria in Huertas. Been in there on every visit to Madrid and yet to see another tourist. Open till 3 am and marvellous value.25 euros will fill you up and a bottle of wine to wash it down with.

"High" Budget - La Cabana on c/Ventura de la Vega. The tenderest steak I ever ate in my life. 60 euros for a major blowout with a jug of sangria.

Oops, meant for two people. Might not seem cheap to you, but you want to try and get that sort of value for money over here! Try eating lunchtime "Menu Del Dia,s" if you are looking for something cheaper still. Failing that, Mc Bowels is always open!

hmm...yeah 25 euros seems more on the high budget side for me...but I'm sure we'll still be open to trying that place out. I looked at the posting for "Cheap eats" and it seemed to have broken alot of options down for me...I guess I was trying to look for places that offered bocadillos or snacks...
We're just trying to stretch out euro ( smile ) during our trip..while enjoying the tastes of Spain at the same time.
Thanks for your feedback! - Novia

Yes, La Finca de Susana is quite unexpensive and very fancy; and the restaurant La Rosa, in Cl Oriente 4, is very cheap and offers very traditional yet simple Spanish dishes.

Stop Madrid just north of the Gran Via had really helpful people and great (and reasonable prices). They also had really good sangria, if you like it. I was there every night I was in my most favorite city in the world.
