I will be visiting Madrid from 26 June to 8 July, then going for few days to the south.
Looking for an interesting woman to accompany me while in Madrid, exchange ideas and have good time etc. My fields of interest: classical music, paintings, photography, arts and more...But discos are not excluded, of course. I am enthusiastic about this town and know some tastes of it.

i don't know what to tell you about finding a woman to accompany you while in Madrid. I'd say that if you are looking for an escort you'd probably want to hit the Opera area, which is the area around the opera metro stop, east of the palacio real. you can also pick up metro norte there, and there is a huge bus stop area...

if you are looking for some pletonic companionship i'd say to check the newspaper Segundamano, which has a huge personals section of all types of people.. muy buena suerte!

Interesting anecdote: At the end of 1999 I received an email from a radio station owner/president who wrote to me using his station's call letters/domain name (in Tennessee, I think). He asked me, point blank, if *I* could "arrange" an escort for him while he was visiting Madrid for a few days. He said he would be willing "pay for the best" and that "all her expenses would be taken care of" and so on and so forth.

I kindly told him that I wasn't in "the business" of arranging such things, but if he was REALLY desperate he should try along the Gran Vía or the Casa de Campo park for some "company".

Just out of curiosity, I went to his domain name/radio station website and.... if I was REALLY mean or was anyone other than the honest, and discrete person that I am I could have easily sent the email to everyone's listed email address at the station. BUT, I didn't, of course.

Saludos, MadridMan

MadridMan this is hilarious!

I do not find the idea of an "escort" to be strange, but since i'm engaged i'm not really in the market. but it is so funny how discreet and secretive people can be regarding this. maybe it's because oftentimes the person looking really does have a reason to hide it... whatever... but i think your story is funny! do you get those types of requests often??

your suggestion to the companion seeker is good. gran vía, definitely, and casa de campo
if looking for tras-vesti (cross dressers).
platonic, look at the segundamano, or some other type of online personals to set up in advance. it will be easiest if you are fairly good with spanish, too. ( provided you are looking for a spanish woman to "show you around," and want the cultural aspect too.)

There are some trippers in the Segundamano!!! My girlfriends, when they first got to Madrid, decided to put an ad in there looking for fun people to party with. Boy you can imagine the calls they got! They were so clueless! BTW, there are tons of non-Spanish speaking girls for those lonely travelers- some even take credit cards.

Hi,
Thanks for your remarks, which I was reading with growing amusement. I think I had specified what I'm really interested in: opera, theatre, museums (oil paintings, graphics), and seeing the town curosities. Think that no one was in a situation when after a marvellous night in opera or concert hall you have no companion to share opinion with. And why women? Read some books by
P. Mulford to find out...

I don't believe we have any females registered on the Spain Message Board from Madrid (yet!), but you might post your question/statement (in Spanish...if you speak Spanish, that is) on the soc.culture.spain newsgroup. But, prepare yourself for the replies -- they could be UNUSUAL!

Here's an idea: Get yourself a website, ("If you build it, they will come") announce a "Party With Spectator!" gathering in Madrid, then choose the women with whom you get along best. Hmmm.. I'm going to have to keep this in mind. Heehhheee..

IN REALITY, a "Party With MadridMan - Version 2.0!" is planned for October at Madrid's El Brillante bar/eatery (next to the Reina Sofía museum). Check http://www.MadridMan.com for details sometime in September. The gathering last year at the same place was a surprising success!!

If you don't find what you are looking for here, try Eurotrip.com's travel friends' forums (or is it fora?).
Or, take some bus tours to such places as El Escorial (Monasterio de San Lorenzo) or Toledo. You might meet someone with similar interests on one of those tours (or even on a Madrid by Night tour).
