I have been surprised by a new innovative project of Ferran Adriā ( the best chef in Spain) that is called " Buy a Vineyard". For 59 euros/month you have the chance of manage your own vineyard, design your future wine ( with the support of specialists) that will result of the grapes( chosen by you) of the vineyard.

Every year you will receive your 42 bottles with your own labels , designed by you. You can manage your own vineyard by internet(controlled by webcam and videoconferencing) or coming directly at the vineyards. The vineyards are situaded in Conca de Barberā in Catalonia D.O Conca de Barberā

I think it's sounds good. It is clearly not an investment but it is a very good oportunity to be involved in the wine's culture, learning and sharing with other owners experiences and knowledges about your vineyard. Also is a very excelent idea if you want to surprise your family or friends in a "special day" with your own wine.

This is the webpage Cal Celdoni
(At The moment only in Spanish)

What other people think about this?

Sounds like a cheap gimmick to me, which would tire you after you'd toyed with it for several months.
On the other hand, the reason the idea didn't turn *me* on may be that I've always had a secret dream to retire to my own winery in Spain (Tuscany would do just as well) which I will probably never be able to afford – but one can hardly retire to a site in cyber space, n'est pas?

I think you have not understood. This is not about internet. This is about to buy a real "portion" of a vineyard. It's clear that if you can not come to Spain to visit your vineyard and the cellars , you are wasting your time. If you have the possibility of coming regularly and controlling your vineyard directly, you don't need internet.

As you have said, to have your own winery is only reachable if you spend one million dollars. And I think this is a good approximation for all the people who wants to participate in the creation of a wine and doesn't have a million dollar.

Beside of that, I have the privilege of living near Conca de Barberā, so before magnifying this project I will make a visit, and after that I will make a little review to share with all .
