Hey,
I just signed onto this site, it's excellent. I'm heading to Madrid for a week in September to attend a friends wedding. Me and two friends have rented an apartment on Calle de San Francisco. Is this a good area ? And can anyone suggest any good bars ? I'm meeting up with a bunch of friends I went to high school with in Denmark and we all like catching up over a few beers.
Thanks.

Hi ColinK! Welcome to our little message board!

I'll leave the neighborhood description to the Madrileños, but if you have the exact address you can plug it into http://fotos.qdq.com and take a virtual photo/map tour of the address and surroundings. Have a GREAT time!

Saludos, MadridMan

Umhhhhh many good tapas bars there and about 30 wine bars. That is about 85% of the wine bars in Madrid. It is hard to find a bad bar or restaurant in that area unless you really set to it. It is a good area. Your street is where one of the doors to the town used to be eight hundred years ago.

Go to the Retiro,Prado and the Royal Palaces i recomend also taking a stroll into the bars etc or restuarants relax and have some thing to eat (which you will obviously do any ways)also a good way to check out the city is actually at night we left the house at about 11-12 oclock we drove all over the place with no traffic its a great way to get an idea about the city all though their could be some weirdos around and your pictures come out bad.

Colin,

If you're near the Plaza de la Paja, in the middle of La Latina district, do not miss: El Almendro, on cl Almendro 13., Delic on Costanilla de San Andrés, 14; and Berlin Cabaret ( www.berlincabaret.com ). Also the summer rooftop terrace of El Viajero, on Plaza de la Cebada, 11.

¡Qué os divirtáis!
