Howdy. I've only been able to find references to Acid Jazz when I've searched the Entertainment thread (Club Kathmandu in Madrid).

Although I enjoy jazz with a low PH rolleyes , I'm more interested in "straight-ahead" modern stuff.

I'll be doing a GoogleSearch - but wondering if any of you know of any clubs in the cities listed below which reliably present good music (Local OR big name stars)

and those cities...now listed here below laugh ...are:

Malaga, Nerja, Granada, Cordoba, Sevilla, y Madrid!
Fechas: el 21 de diciembre hasta el 30 de diciembre (12/21 - 12/30)

Thanks for any leads!

LOTS of websites out there for "nightlife" so you should be able to find some jazz in them. English sites are more difficult to find and usually have less information but here are a few worth a look:

Guía del Ocio @ http://www.guiadelocio.com (many Spanish cities)
WebMadrid @ http://www.webmadrid.com/ (click on English version)
Café Jazz Populart in Huertas Madrid @ http://www.populart.es/ (only in Spanish.. sorry!)
SoftDoc: Madrid @ http://www.softdoc.es/madrid_guide/main/welcome.html
TimeOut: Madrid @ http://www.timeout.com/madrid/

I'm sure there are many others for the other locales. Anyone else? Good luck and have fun!

Saludos, MadridMan

His name is Brian Parker and you can contact him through his web site http://www.jazz-radio.fm/home.php You can listen in live on the net to his programmes too on a weekend, when he broadcasts on Onda Cero Internacional http://www.mercuryin.es/oci/english.htm . Not my cup of tea, I'm afraid.....in fact, I feel so sleepy....just..thinking ..about it...zzzzzzzzzz wink

Sleepy?! eek

You must not be listening to GOOD jazz!

Check out some of the great Latin jazz musicians (Michel Camilo's "Triangulo" or Chucho Valdes w/ Irakere).
Listen to Wynton Marsalis' "Majesty of the Blues", World Saxophone Quartet or the new Joshua Redman album "Elastic" - very funky, certainly not snooze-worthy...
OR some classics like Joe Henderson's "Mode For Joe" or Coltrane's "A Love Supreme"!

Phew! Ya got me all riled up...

I e-mailed Brian Parker after roaming around his site a bit. Hopefully I'll get lucky and some great bands will be playing during late December.

Thanks for the lead A.F.! Maybe I can buy you a beer when I'm in Nerja and browbeat you into loving jazz... wink

Sorry for ruffling your feathers, Tex! Actually, it probably wouldn't take much education and persuasion to convert me and that's not just because of the carrot of San Miguel!! laugh I do go out of my way to see a good blues band whenever I hear of one, so I suppose it should be a logical step to appreciate good jazz...... but.... frown

There's a jazz club on the western Costa del Sol which meets often that I know of and near to where I work in Fuengirola there's jazz advertised at Route 66 on the road to Mijas every Wednesday, but even allowing for the new motorway on the eastern side of Malaga, it's still close to an hour's drive for you from Nerja I suppose. Try sending a private message to MM member DaveJ of Nerja or e-mail him for info re his home town of Nerja?

Dizzy who?? wink
