Sometimes things wind down on Sundays. But Toledo as a day trip is a full day. The drive is easy once you escape Madrid. The cathedral is a must, the plaza is fun, there is a little tapas restaurant across from the plaza and down and to your left with a very nice potato tapas - unlike any i've had in Spain. Views around the city border are nice. Drove thru the old town once and that was wild. only small car with windows that fold!! better to walk. lots of cool little shops to check out. one idea is to go late afternoon, spend night walking around, eating drinking. spend the night, walk around exploring half a day, then mosey back.
