I am planning to travel to Madrid in August. I don't mind the hot weather, but I have heard that Madrid virtually shuts down in August. Advice?

I will be there in early August too.When I was there last year it is true that lots of places were closed ,including Casa Paco (the restaurant I really wanted to visit again).However much remains open,including many bars and terraces.I would like to hear of any good ideas.

Casa Paco opens at the end of August. But there are other places that offer good steak like La Taperia, Antonio Sanchez o La Fortuna. As for August there are going to be street parties from the 4th on. The weekend of La Almudena, is the best by far, it is the ofical party of Madrid and it is always a blast.
