I will be going to Madrid for the day to meet with someone passing through the city. It is a sort of informal business meeting for about 1 hour or so. Does anyone know of any suitable central hotels where the lobby area is ideal for such a meet (like the Landmark in London - or any large hotel here for that matter) I go on Monday 14/1. Any suggestions welcomed.

I recommend the Hotel Emperador . Right in the heart of the Gran Via at San Bernardo.

Nice little lobby cocktail lounge. A very open area with comfortable chairs and low tables.
