AENA ( the company that runs the airports has given a number ( 00 34 ) 902 404 704 ... Most airports in Spain have been paralysed by a lightning strike . The weekend before a National holiday .. The union management should be brought before the courts . The Government has held a crisis meeting , and the minister are considering bringing in the military . He used the word "intolerable" . ... The headline right now on TVE24 is Caos en los Aeropuertos .

Agree with your comments, Steve. Spain (like so many other places) is suffering from an economy in the hole - and strikes like this only make it worse! Long weekend, Xmas travel, etc - right now tourism is vital!

Good for the govt!

In situation like this they will bring the Military indeed. Hope they have the guts to go ahead with it.

Many years ago in the USA, Ronald Reagan fired all air traffic controllers who wanted a union, then trained new one non-unionise at Palm Coast, Florida in a program with the FAA=Federal Aviation Administration and my alma matter ERAU=Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

That did it ::)
