Pilots used their last weapon to force the company into accepting their conditions, so the pilots dedicated to coordinate Iberia's operations(around 100) resigned. The answer was the closing at 12:00. At 3:00am today, the goverment stated to both parties that the situation could be declared a National emergency unless they inmediately got into the path the law sets for these conflicts. Basically they have 2 days to find an independent advisor (accepted by both parties) that will decide in 4 days on the subject with no appeal possible. If they fail on doing this, the goverment will appoint an advisor of their confidence.
In fact the goverment was seriously advising both company and the union of the potential consequences for both of them of putting at risk the future of the main industry of the country for such a small question.
At 5:00am Iberia resumed operations as it nothing has happened, flights of today have been smooth as ever.....To continue...
