Just to point out that the Estacion Sur de Autobuses in Madrid is not near metro Atocha, but metro Mendez Alvaro.
The advantages of the bus in the Madrid-Toledo route are:
- it is cheaper (4.25 EUR each way) and more frequent (every 30 min, or even less in peak hours) than the train. If you want to make it even cheaper, you can buy a 1 day-Tourist Travel Pass zone T (
link ) for 7.60 EUR that allows you to make unlimited trips for one day within all the Madrid region and some neighbour places, like Toledo.
- it doesn't require reservation, contrary to the train.
But I don't think it is more accessible for people with walking problems...
