Hey, I don't mean this to be an ad, but I'm going to Madrid on KLM. They have (had?) a promotion with Northwest that gets you from JFK to MAD for $360 round-trip, depending on the day. I suggest you check them out if you're still looking... Otherwise I found Iberia and Luftansa to be $420...
