Heeelp!

Can anyone recommend a good, simple spam blocker for me please?

All of a sudden I am receiving about 300 spams a day.

I haven't set a blocker/washer or whatever up yet as I am not confident that I wont miss emails that I DO want to receive.

Anybody got an idiot proof recommendation?

Spam blockers typically don't work because:

1) new ways of "beating the system" are invented by spammers everyday

2) you may filter out "good" email

What you CAN do is the following:

1) check email via your/a web-based email program. That is, check your email directly through your server like one does with Yahoo email. Or you can set up an email program and check your email using POP mail and use the (for example) Yahoo email filtering system. This will also protect your computer from downloading email directly to YOUR computer. (this is what MadridMan does. I no longer download email to my computer because of the thousands of spam and virus-containing emails I was getting daily)

2) change your email address to one from Yahoo where you can check your email online without downloading directly to your computer.

That's all that comes to mind now but am sure there are other options.

Hmmmm, curious.

I do check my mail via a POP thingy, via the Wannado home page.

I didn't set up any filters for the reasons you stated MM.

However, this morning when I checked my mail, what did I find? 300+ SPAMS? No!! Just 3 normal nice lovely mails from people I know .....

How did that happen? I haven't changed anything.

Weird.

It will be great if it stays like this
