My friend and I are visiting Madrid, Barcelona and maybe 1 other city in late June. Do you think it's necessary to find a hostel that has air conditioning? I've found some places I'm interested in that are inexpensive and have good ratings, but no mention of A/C:

For Barcelona, I would recommend A/C for late June. You could be there on a very hot humid day. Madrid is drier, so you might be more comfortable. Still, there are plenty of hostels with air conditioning, so you may as well have it just in case.

As for Madrid,a/c is a MUST during the summer months.Do not get any rooms without it or you won't be able to sleep at all because of the heat.Fortunately most hostals have rooms with a/c but there are some that don't.Make sure you get one with a/c!This applies anytime from June thru late August.
