Wife and I are coming with our 2 little boys in mid-May to Madrid and would like to try Hostales on c/Zorilla which we understand are quiet and safe. How critical are reservations at that time? -Seems like if we aren't too particular there are quite a few places in that area in addition to the two we have heard of on this site( Mirentxu / Principado ) We are bound to find something-am I not right? We can stay with some local friends for a night or two if it gets real tight.

thanks for the advice

How necessary for mid-May? EXTREMELY NECESSARY!! Why? Because mid-May starts the month-long bullfighting festival of San Isidro at Madrid's Las Ventas bullring and available rooms are tough to find. RESERVE NOW! GOOD LUCK!
