My husband and I are going to Avila and Salamanca in September (yay!). We prefer to stay in apartments rather than hotels. Can anyone recommend good websites for apartments in these two cities? If not, can anyone recommend good (but not too expensive) hotels?

In Salamanca I stay at Hotel Don Juan for one night in Sept 2005. No complaints from me and the location is a two minutes walk to Plaza Mayor.

The place was recommended in Rick Steves Spain 2005 guidebook.

Thank you, Bill! I looked at the hotel's website and it looks pretty good to me. Being so close to the Plaza Mayor, was there a problem with noise?

I had a single room on the top floor towards the back. Not much a view but it was quite.

A hotel on the outskirts of Salamanca which was fantastic was NH Hoteles Salamanca. It was so clean and SO nice and a room with two Queen sized beds was around 60 euro/night. I went with my mother and we loved it. ( we had a car, so we were about a 2 minute drive from Plaza Mayor)
