Hello ssilver! And welcome to MadridMan's ALL SPAIN Message Board!
First, please, tell us where in Spain you would like to stay and we can give you some specific recommendations.
Second, while I/we don't know where in Spain you'll be staying, I doubt there are many places where you might need air conditioning in February.
Good luck and enjoy Spain! Saludos, MadridMan

The Principe Pio in Madrid is good. It has hotels and apartments...good priced and nice people. Neighborhood is good and located by many attractions.

I think you mean Principe 11. Well, I went to the website, http://www.atprincipe11.com and was pretty impressed! Then I went to travelocity.com and BOOKED A ROOM in summer (I understand they all have kitchenettes!!) for 46 euros a night for 2 adults and 2 children!!! Right in Huertas. Can't beat that!

rgf, yes, that's probably the place to which meencantaespana was referring. There is a Hotel Princípe Pío (web: www.hotelprincipepio.com/ ) but I don't think they have apartments. Saludos, MadridMan

I was referring to the Principe Pio in Madrid right by the Plaza de Espana and yes they do have apartments. We stayed in one. They have a hotel part and next to it are apartments with kitchenettes.

I stayed in the Principe Pio hotel (not apt) near the Palacio Real in the mid 90s. Drab, poor service, etc. I took a group of students. Price was ok, but food and lodging, not good in my opinion.

I'll update your subject line to reflect the city location. Thanks!
