I will be studying abroad next year in England, and my best friend and I are heading to the continent for spring break. The plan is to be in Madrid for 4 to 5 nights and do quite a bit of sightseeing, as well as experience some night life.

What areas of Madrid should we be looking for hostals in? Location is important, but we also want to be in an area safe for 2 female students.

Any specific hostal recommendations are welcome too.

I have experienced no problems in the area around Hostal Chelo , but you always have to be careful. Madrid is a normal, big city with normal problems. Be aware of your surroundings where ever you choose to stay.
