Hi all,

I'm on my way back to Madrid tomorrow and tried to book a room at Hostal Lopez the other day. They're all booked up. I needed a place for two weeks.

Booked up in the middle of winter? Maybe it's the advertisements. Oh well.

Anybody else have trouble?

Hi Cantamal! Hostal López is by far the most popular hostel in Madrid so I'm not surprised it's booked with 1-2 days notice. It may very well not be booked for your arrival date, but they probably couldn't accomodate you for the entire two weeks as it might be completely FULL/booked periodically during those next two weeks. I'm just guessing here. Someone requesting reservations for, say, Monday night for two-three nights might not have any trouble at all.

Why not try one of the others like Hostal Rivera, Gonzalo, or Mirentxu, which I've heard are all very good, but probably less popular.

Apart from being so popular, hostels are fully booked now because Fitur the second most importat tourism fair in the world, is going on now.

Another busy period will be next month during the contemporary art fair Arco . It's amaging how many people come to Madrid for these fairs.

PS: BTW, I'll be at Fitur tomorrow afternoon.
