We're trying to figure out the logistics of our move to Madrid this summer and there's one issue for which I didn't find a discussion thread - boarding kennels for dogs, something I have also had trouble finding with a Google search. When we move we will have to go back to the U.S. for five to six weeks. Previously we took our dog with us. However, she's now ten years old and subjecting her to summer heat and transatlantic flights twice in one summer doesn't appeal to us. Since we're living in Europe already, I'm looking at the possibility of driving to Madrid and leaving her with a dog sitter or in a good kennel. This also gets our car to Madrid to be there when we finally arrive rather than having to wait to have it shipped.

If any MMers know of a good boarding kennel or dog sitters in Madrid, I'd be grateful!

Thanks. I had found this link, but it doesn't say much. There was also a page of kennels in the QDQ.com guia telefonica. Unfortunately, they didn't have webpages or much information. I did find four good webpages of kennels, two near Barcelona and the others further south. So I'm still looking for anyone with experience or possibly a willing dog sitter. Maybe this should go to the Classified section?

AAH Veterinary Clinic does animal boarding. In their ad, it says "small animal," so I don't know if this would work for your dog or not. The Vet. there, Elizabeth Nave, is an American. I haven't yet boarded my cats with her, but she has seen them in a veterinary capacity and I've been very happy with her. If they don't do boarding for dogs, I'm sure she would be able to tell you who to contact. Here is all of the info: AAH Veterinary Clinic, C/Pleyades 1, 28023 Aravaca. 91 357 4496. Fax: 91 307 1327.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the info. It's also good to get a recommendation for a good vet. I think usually when a vet says they do small animals, it means dogs and cats, but not horses, cows, etc. That's been our experience so far in the US, Latin America and Europe. Do you know if the vet has an e-mail address?
