Hi...question for anyone who can help. I realize Nov. 1st is a national holiday. Will everything pretty much be closed down on this day (ie, museums, sights, ect)? Are there generally any celebrations in Madrid? In Spain? And if anyone knows...is the situation similar in France (Paris specifically). Just came across this site and it's really helpful!! Thanks in advance.

Mazzyday,

You're right. Most places will be closed on that day. As for museums, they may keep the same schedule they have on Sundays (ie, opened only during the morning).

All saints day is a religious holiday so there is no special celebrations.

Regards,

Antonio

MazzyDay,

Antonio is right, but if you happen to be in Spain on the 1st, make sure you check out the local confitería and buy lots of "huesos de los Santos", which are a typical delicious confection. There are many types, and they are always filled with some sort of sweet, delicious "marrow" of some sort. I miss the huesos!!!!

Well, many people (me among them) think "Huesos del Santo" are too much luscious. I would go for "buñuelos" instead(filled with a variety of things cream, chocolate...).

And remember that in Spain we have pastries for every ocassion.

Enjoy them,

Antonio
