Many times in Madrid and other parts of España I' ve seen year dates written not as , for example 1969 but 1.969 . Can anybody tell me the history behind using the fullstop between the first and second number ? It's commonly used in more traditional establishments . ( years living in Madrid I should have asked myself ... A veces estoy un poco vago .

yes the point is use in Spanish countries and comma in others like France
but the origins do not know. There is a long discussion in Spanish here but too lazy to read it ::)

Just did a quick read and there is a phrase . 'Es incorrecto escribir con punto la expresión numérica de los años . 1.992 - 2.001 .'

You see this expression of years in many places in Madrid .. in bars and restaurants so I'm still convinced there is an historical context to discover .

hahaha well in a while I am going to a corporate luncheon, boring thing, all is blah blah blah but we must be politically correct.
Then Mexico the branch overthere book me a hotel for 225 USD, heck here we pay and then reimburse, but I rather stay in Zona Rosa cheaper hotels and more things to do lol!!!
