Yes, we will be in spring smile

Moderate temperatures (10-25 ºC), windy and some days will rain.

I was dreaming about this trip for a long time. I know Spanish , I am interested in Spanish history, culture, art etc.
So, looks like it will be a wonderful trip for me!
...but I am not sure about my husband.
We are opposites in many ways: he is a golfer (I find it boring), he is not a fan of art (museums are very boring for him), he likes car races (what is just a lot of noise for me) etc. .endless list..
Anyway, he is going with me and I am not sure how to accommodate our different interests..
May be, he will go golfing 18 holes (it's almost all the day)and I will do something on my own, like going to the museus..
Do lot of people speak English in Madrid?
I don't want him to be uncomfortable without having me as translator.

There are several golf resorts in Madrid, so perhaps you can plan something for him. There is also a large F1 circuit (Circuito del Jarama) which runs races on Sundays (usually).

And there are lots of other things to do: shopping, walking around, going to have tapas, teather, expositions... even if he find museums boring, El Prado Museum is very impressive (as well as Reina Sofía Museum and Thyssen-Bornemiza Museum).

As for english, about 40% of Madrid's citizens speak (or at least can understand) english (this is higher than in Spain in general). In touristy places (hotels, museums,...) it is very very probable to find someone who will speak english perfectly.

Try to search this BBS and asking people if you need ideas of what you may do while in Madrid smile

Yes, maybe 40% of the spanish speak some English, but only about a, let's say, 5% are fluent and understand elaborated frases, so tryto speak as simple as you can and be prepared for some communication intent failures. smile
