Good morning - I hope that you have had a good week and a restful weekend.
Here in Scotland the lifting of the lockdown continues albeit at a more conservative pace than in England.
The 5 mile travel restriction was lifted and this allowed me to take the camper van on a slightly longer run.
So yesterday I headed to one of my favourite spots - can you guess where? I'll post some photos later in the week.

Let's hope that the loosening of the lockdown does not allow the virus to take hold again.

From Bucksburn we are going to head to town along the Great Northern Road and the railway line. Both road and railway line provide routes to and from the north.

There is a strip of wildness along this route called the Auchmill Nature Reserve...

Great Northern Road. No prizes for guessing where it heads!

The beginning of the reserve

It also provides a giid walking and cycling path away from the main road. On this occasion I was walking

Splashes of colour and a ruined wall

Eventually we are in the town centre.

This is Union Street

The art deco former cinema

Time to move on - a former music shop

This week's Sunday Snaps can be found here https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-53193224

Have a good week.

Loosening the lockdown- first trip out in the van for 110 days...

As promised...

On Friday 3rd July the lockdown was loosened and it is now possible to travel more that 5 miles for leisure purposes - this was an ideal opportunity to head to one of my favourite spots, but where?...

There is a few small fishing boats in the harbour

There I am, parked up with a great view of the beach

It was cloudy but not cold

I think a few others were taking advantage of some of the restrictions being lifted. The beach was relatively busy

Colourful

Bailing out the water from the boat

There was one other van visiting today - can you see it?

It was great to be back in Cruden Bay!

We are in Cruden Bay after being allowed to travel more that 5 miles from our homes under the Scottish Government's relaxation if lockdown measures...

The inner harbour

The sheds

A view to the headland

It was just a short trip so that the van would get a good run. It has been out and about but only locally to the golf club.

I headed back to Aberdeen and the beach promenade...

Dark clouds in the distance

A few folks were taking advantage of the dry weather to have a stroll

These are some fabulous buildings on Union Street

It is a short walk from Union Street to Rosemont Viaduct. The viaduct crosses the Denburn area and the Den Burn itself. ..

Near the viaduct is our church

..as well as a nearby former church which has been converted to a conference centre and apartments

The exterior of some of the apartments

Some fantastic street art

An end-on view of Aberdeen Central Library

How has your week been? Hopefully you have been able to take advantage of some relaxation of the lockdown measures, especially during the weekend.

Parts of the world continue to be ravaged by cases of Covid-19 - our thoughts and prayers should especially be with USA and Brazil at this time.
It is interesting to see outbreaks spring up on places like Melbourne, Australia and the lockdown response to those outbreaks. I think this will be a future trend.

I feel more comfortable in the shops since it became mandatory to wear face coverings in shops and public transport.

We are walking in Rosemont Viaduct in the city centre...

Looking along the viaduct

"Education, Salvation and Damnation" A famous Aberdeen line-up of three imposing granite civic buildings - the Central Library, St Mark's Church and His Majesty's Theatre on Rosemount Viaduct. The viaduct carries the road across the Denburn Valley on a great arch.

Education - The entrance to the public library

Salvation - St Mark's Church

Donald's Way separates the church and the Theatre

Damnation - the theatre

Across from the theatre, the viaduct overlooks Union Terrace Gardens which are being refurbished
