We are in Cespón, a village near Boiro.

The three crosses and a chapel

This appears to be a small chapel but the lack of signage makes this difficult to confirm

The three crosses

They had carvings on their bases

The skull and bones surely remind us of our mortality

From Cespón we move to Neixón and its iron age forts or castros.

The Castro's de Neixón are located on a peninsula. This is a small Bed and breakfast or casa rural

The location and path

The exhibition of iron age artefacts...

There is a good visitor centre at Neixón

It contains many artefacts found during archaeological digs on the site of the forts

This is a reconstruction of the boats used

Jars for water or wine

A selection of pottery

And implements

A life size reconstruction of one of the dwellings

A peek inside a reconstructed dwelling house

Let's head out to the peninsula...

Inside a reconstructed Iron Age dwelling exhibit in the welcome centre

We are heading out to the peninsula

We'll follow the well-trodden track to see what we can find

It is a bonnie place - a bit like Scotland!

Views to Rianxo over the Arousa Estuary

Some stones ahead

They are the remains of an Iron Age dwelling house

Parts of the peninsula have lots if trees

The site if a recent archaeological dig

Looking towards the Arousa Estuary

More evidence of the settlement

There was a little surprise ahead

A hidden beach

We'll take a last look at the castros before moving on...

It is the start of a new week which I hope you are prepared for after a restful weekend wherever in the world you are.
The wildfires continue in California so spare a thought for those affected by this tragedy in which 70 have lost their lives and over 1000 are unaccounted for.

We are exploring the peninsula at Neixón on which an iron age settlement can be found

More dwelling houses and food stores

The views are wonderful

The trees provide some welcome shade on a warm day

A final look at a part of the settlement

It's time to move on

The Sunday Snaps can be found here.

It is Sunday and it us time to meet up with friends for lunch. They stay in Santiago de Compostela so it is nice to see them.
We are heading by car to a rural restaurant on part of the Camino de Santiago - Rua de Francos or the French Road.

I shot this from the car. It is in the small town of Faramello

Here is the restaurant

Before lunch we'll be head off on a walk

The area is well known for its walking and cycling routes

We are walking down by the River Tinto in an area of Faramello in Galicia. We are heading for Sunday lunch.../

At the Rio Tinto we found this delightful spot

It is a picnic area at a Roman bridge

The bridge in the foreground and the picnic tables in the background

Thus is a good way to build up an appetite!
