The latest info with regard to El Caminito.
Beginning in April El Caminito will have a management company that will take it on for a maximum of four years.
Entry will no longer be free and the Diputación said it expects tickets to cost a maximum of 10 euros per person. No details were given about discounts. At least nine per cent of revenue will go towards maintaining the walk.
El Caminito will continue to restrict visitors to 1,100 people a day and 300,000 a year. It will open from Tuesday to Sunday.

Thanks, Arturo. I think this all makes a great deal of sense; it protects the area and the visitors so lets hope it works.

Good info indeed, but no doubt will have to be regulated or else back to where it was before. Good scheme to maintain the walk for all to enjoy in years to come

The Caminito was closed on March 27. They are still looking for a new management company. It is not expected to reopen until late April or early May. Hopefully it will reopen soon. It has been very popular since it opened last year.

As a side-note, I just recommended this place to some Ohio (USA) businessmen (yes, all men in this case) for an exotic/extreme thing to try and they're doing it next year!!

It is no longer extreme, but it is a great way to spend an afternoon. The views are spectacular. They limit the number of tickets sold so you need to plan ahead. They now put a number of Combination Tickets on sale each morning at the train stations. This includes a ticket for the Cercanias train to Málaga if needed, the train to El Chorro, the shuttle bus to the starting point and the entry fee for the Caminito. You can also take the guided tour if you want it.
