I'm finding the ticket information on the Metro de Madrid site confusing and wonder what works out as the best deal for 2 seniors traveling twice daily most days within Zone A and also making connections from Chamartin to Cercedilla, Segovia and Avila and Atocha to Toledo. Pay as we go? The Metrobus 10 Journey Tickets? Tourist Travel Pass (includes buses and Cercanias trains)? Or can we buy a 30 Day Season Ticket (12.3 Euros for seniors!) even though we're not citizens? I'd like to know as much about this as possible before we arrive so we won't add to our jet-lag stress by not knowing what to do in a crowded Metro station.

Hi SteveVB
If I were in your position, I would settle for the Metrobus 10 deal. I've used it several times in the past and it has worked well.

Hello SteveVB
welcome back to madridman.

I do the metro/bus at minimum as most of the time with a car or walk. However, having lived in the city and visiting now at least once a year, the public transport is very good. The site for trips in English is here
https://www.metromadrid.es/en/viaja_en_metro/trayecto_recomendado/index.html

For the tickets if staying in Madrid proper the metrobus is ok; for the other trips you mentioned you need separate ticket as such. However, take a look at the Tourist Card; this allows trips in Cercanias suburbian trains either in zone A within Madrid proper or Zone T on the whole cercanias network, again for Cercedilla good to take the C2 from Chamartin, for Avila, Toledo, Segovia you need a separate ticket and train, and for me going to Segovia on the Sepulvedana bus line is better than the train as it leaves you closer to the city center.

For the train to Avila, Toledo, Segovia use the RENFE travel trip journey
http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/

La Sepulvedana bus

hope it helps

Pedmar, thanks so much for the links as well as your lodging advice! I love Madrid and I can't wait to spend 2 weeks there - our previous visit was less than 48 hours. Steve
