Are you the same? I enjoy exploring places to see what they have on offer in terms of historic buildings and new sights and sounds.
Boiro has quite a lot to offer...

With narrow lanes

Ornamental fountains

Churches

Urban allotments

And the burial tombs

In memory of a local priest

La Vuelta a España has been taking place. It is the Spanish equivalent of the Tour de France. It is likely that there were many cycling events taking place around the country. There was one in Boiro...

The start/finish line

The marshaling area

This was the event

These are for storage

The entrance to a Pazo or stately home

One of the many crosses that can be seen in the area

The priest's house from bygone days

One of the narrow back streets in Boiro, Galicia

A hórreo and an old entrance

One of the many crosses around Boiro

Great views from the edge of town

Perhaps a refreshing stop for weary pilgrims

Another cross in more detail

A well known restaurant

Boiro de Arriba...

The weather has been pleasant here in NW Spain, around 20 to 26 de C. The big weather story in the breaking news has been Irma and it's path of destruction through the Caribbean. Out thoughts are with those who have been affected by it and those who will be affected by it, particularly in Cuba and Florida.

It is the to explore a bit more of Boiro. Many communities here have an upper part (an Arriba) and a lower part (an abajo). Today we'll visit the upper part, Boiro de Arriba...

It is very rural

With great views

And deep religious roots

Heading back into the town centre,I came upon these characters...

Heading to the beach....

Let's take a walk down to the beach...

Through the town

By some strange looking flats

To the beach of Barraña

Looking to Escarabote

Looking towards Cabo da Cruz

Looking to the mussel fields

Some of the exclusive beach houses

And this

A final look gat one of those large seaside homes

Heading back I to Boiro, we pass the municipal market. Being on the Arousa estuary, this area is rich in seafood...

All so,so fresh!

We have been at the golf club most days.

The golf has been of mixes quality, with only a few birdies and no eagles. We did have sheep though!

I hope you are having a good weekend. Our thoughts are with you if you have been adversely affected by the extreme weather and earthquakes of recent days.

Here are this week's Scottish Sunday Snaps http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-41123024

There has been a lot of solar activity in recent days resultin in a lot of aurora sightings around Scotland. Here are some photos of them. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-41199051

Wishing you all the best for the week ahead.

A trip to Noia...

Noia is to the north of Boiro and we were going there to meet friends for lunch.

Here we are on the road

Approaching Noia

The intention was to park up and walk around the historic quarter before lunch...

Typical ironwork on the balconies

And lots of green spaces

More from the old quarter...

It was a really pleasant day with the temperature around 25 degree C. It was a pleasure to be walking around the Casco Antiguo of Noia....

With arched passageways

And narrow streets

One of Noia's many churches

And one of its many crosses

Friends pose for a pic

Shaded streets

Cloistered cafes

Scenic squares

Continuing our walk round the old quarter of Noia...

Some of the buildings look a bit colonial

And there are some great open spaces, architecture and monuments

The town house

Next, we head to the restaurant...
