Well-said, robbieroy. A Colorful character indeed, much because of her physical "transformations" during the last 30-years.

Her worth was estimated between 66 million Euros and 3 billion Euros - quite a divided estimation! 3-years ago her riches were all distributed equally among her 6-children and the two oldest sons were put in charge of her Madrid residence, the Liria Palace, near the Plaza de España on Calle Princesa.

Thrice-married, the last time just 5 years ago to a much younger man, did seem to enjoy life as much as an elder person of royalty could. The press followed her appearances and holidays very closely.

Saludos, MadridMan

La Duquesa de Alba efforts and sustained support for the arts were incalculable; her legacy and joie de vivre will live on. She was quite a character.

Colourful but as you hint at MM, controversial too. It has been very interesting watching the TV specials about her life and loves on TVE and Canal Sur.

Her funeral is tomorrow.

Not yet Puna, no, but with all the media surrounding her life and assets, I'd bet we'll find out in the coming days.

I know it sounds a bit gruesome but I'll probably watch some of the funeral on La 1 de TVE! It might be a long, drawn out affair though.

the foundation is the main money there as property values are down on the other farms they have. So the big grab is the foundation now held by the heir oldest son Carlos Fitz-James Stuart y Martínez de Irujo.

There's a article in Yahoo News (in Spanish) about it her taxed & not-taxed assets. See the comments by readers at the bottom of the article as well.
