I am going to be driving through La Rioja in April with my 2 friends but I am having difficulty finding lodging that accomodates 3 people in one room. I'm also interested in places that are not listed on the internet as they may be less expensive. Can anyone help me? Thanks!!

swede_34 I suggest staying at the "casas rurales", country houses nicely decorated, with all mod cons and not expensive prices. Try here: Top Rural Enjoy the wonderful wines and wineries of La Rioja. Don't miss the Marqués de Riscal winery designed by Frank O. Gehry. pictures Map

Haro is great, visit the museo del vino, and the many bodegas there, like Bodegas Berceo, bodegas Muga, bodega Paternina, C.V.N.E.,,Ramon Bilbao and in nearby ELCIEGO visit Marques del Rival as mentioned, but you will have a field day in HARO along. there are many places to stay, but my favorite is Los Agustinos, san agustin 2 building is from 1373 converted into a hotel in 1989! parking garage,AC, TV satellite, the works ,rates should be between 79 and 100 euros cheaper try the Hostal Higinia, La Vega 27 just 40 meters from Los Agustinos, share owners. try tapas around Plaza de la Paz. cheers

thanks to you both! The rural houses are great, just a bit far to drive after enjoying the wines in Haro! :-) But that Hostal Higinia sounds perfect if they have a room for three people. I have emailed them, just awaiting a reply.

Does this Hostal Higinia have a website? I couldn't find one through Google.com.

Hi everyone! I am sorry to say that Hostal Higinia will not be a hostal since January 2008. According to several digital newspapers I have just red on the net this hostel will be a hospital for alzheimer pacients. Rioja Difusión La Rioja.com So you will have to look for another place to stay.

It seems swede_34 found their email address - but no mention of a website. Not that it matters much now since, as Valenciano_en_Madrid says, it will soon cease to exist.

OK, so now the Hosta Higinia is out of the question....does anyone know of something other than Los Agustinos? They are a bit pricey since we're just looking for beds to sleep on after visiting the bodegas. I'm thinking of a small mom & pop place. Anything?
