News today by his son, that the first President of the new democratic Spain is very ill, maybe 48 hrs more. So sad;this is a great one of Spain.

thanks to him we are still enjoying a better Spain away from dictators. I lived both and I say ,Thank you Mr Suarez. I will always remember you.

I agree, Pedmar. Well worth a look are the photos in today's El Pais; they are a treasure trove of history.

Sadly, you were correct pedmar. He sadly passed away today, 23rd March 2014 at 1503 local time.
I think even in his death he will have an effect. It will bring the history of Spain (pre and post Franco) to the eyes and ears of many, including the young folks of Spain.

yes, a Grande of Spain, with him nothing of what has been enjoy and attract so many now to Spain would been a reality ,I know I lives those years and was active in cell 27 of Madrid code kinder, and our leader was a guy name Felipe Gonzalez. The period of transition was enormous, and this man did it like the best Don Quijote.
Dream big they said, well Adolfo Suárez dreamt big, and he made it a reality.
I like to have my thought crying to his family.RIP

It is a sad day for many Spaniards today with the passing of Adolfo Suárez, Spain's first democratic leader since the 1930s. The King of Spain gave a brief, televised Eulogy this afternoon, too.

Saludos, MadridMan
