as happened many times in the past I am in Corporate Finance management with multinational with 3 companies in Spain reporting to me. Here is a nice article on salaries in Spain, median monthly is 1800 Euros, with highest goes to 29K per year in best regions. IN Spanish, but think most can handle it here, if need help on the information let me know. 4UPress.com Link (link-shortened) maybe MM can shorten the link, and to all keep it civilised.

I think so too! The average salary is higher than I expected. Though I did expect that the Extremadrura would be the lowest.
I have the feeling that this will get lower though over the next few years before rising again.

Funny even thought the wages are lower here than elsewhere they are still too high for the level of productivity, which is why the Euro has hurt southern Europe so badly, can't devaluate you way out anymore. Edward Hugh a well known British economist (lives in Barcelona) often comments on Facebook about the need for an internal devaluation, aka salary cuts. Never fun!

BTW assuming Madrid is average (29,000 a year) that works out to about 1700 take home over 15 pays, and that was household not personal income. Which begs the obvious question how can anyone (ie family) live on such a low wage!!!!
Update, average Madrid family income 2800 or about 2300 take home, better but still tight especially when you consider how insane the utility costs are here.

Consider 29,000€ per year a GREAT household salary compared to most in Spain these days.
Also keep in mind this is an average. There are A LOT of HIGH-WAGE-EARNERS making 3 or 4-times that amount and A LOT of low-wage-earners (or unemployed) in Spain. I don't run in circles where I know more than a few people which make 30,000 per year per household, especially with the 25% unemployment rate as it is. The middle-class is shrinking quickly.
