I'm gonna land in Rome in two day then fly to Madrid the following week.

If I buy a sim card in Rome(for my US phone), will I need another one for Spain?

no you can use the same but will pay for euro rates when calling italy to spain.
check when buying the sim card in italy on rates bet countries.
