Hi,

I'm trying to find Groundnut oil - can anyone confirm the correct Spanish?

In Google Translate, Groundnut is translated as Mani however Groundnut oil for some reason is translated as aceite de cacahuete

Now this is very strange, as when I try the reverse translation of aceite de cacahuete it returns PEANUT OIL

So, aaahhhhhhh help please!

thanks
Philip

Hi Philip! Mani=cacahuete. Mani is the word used in most of South American countries to say "cacahuete". So you can go and ask for aceite de mani o aceite de cacahuete because they're the same.

This is interesting! Just yesterday I bought some peanuts covered in some kind of hard, sugary, dried brown sauce at the local fruit shop run by a south American. One of the ingredients was "Mani" and we "Spaniards" debated on what that was/meant. Now we know "Mani" is "cacahuete". Thanks! thumbsup

Saludos, MadridMan
