Is anyone following the story of the miners in Chile? What a difficult situation. They are in my prayers!

It´s front page news all over Europe . I , for one , will be jumping up and down with joy when those men come up to the surface . Incredible examples of the human spirit .

GREAT NEWS! All 33 miners and the 6 rescuers are safe in Chile. CNN did a great job providing live coverage of the event. Last rescuer back on the ground in Chile at about 2335 (11:35pm) on Wednesday, October 13th, New York time or 0535 in Madrid.
Mission accomplished.

Number 21 had a problem when he got out,his wife and mistress were waiting for him, and neither knew about the other.

I stayed up until 3am to watch the final guy come out and hear them sing the Chilean national anthem with their president ... amazing . The guy that suffers from diabetes has reportedly contracted Pneumonia ( something I know about ! ) . The hospital is treating him .

The rescue will be remembered as one of the most impressive, well planed and executed almost without a hitch for years to go. And to be able to sit in Georgia and see it all unfold -- priceless!

So true. I think this memorable event will stay with us all for a long time. I am thinking of showing the Bolivian film The Devil's Miner to one of my classes, just to keep this topic going. If any of you haven't watched this film, I would recommend it. It is gripping, very tragic and so, so realistic.

We must remember that their story of survival is an inspiration to all! I hope this story and the results that come from this is to raise awareness regarding the safety of mines all over the world. Change must happen!
Just today in Chile there was another mining collapse and 4 miners are missing.

I just finished watching "The Devil's Miner". What a gripping story! Wow. It is so hard to believe that people live in those circumstances these days, but I imagine that there are more than we know.
