Always pay in euros , if you pay in sterling the give you a worse rate of exchange than your bank will.

yes correct what said by eskimo joe. In addition, if your card charges you a fee for payment/withdrawals, try to see if has correspondance bank in Spain, like I use Barclays no fee on ATM withdrawals so you can take the cash out free and pay cash. Just another option.

Assuming your from UK, a prepaid Mastercard, I've got FairFX gives one of the best exchange rates. There is no fee when paying for goods or services. I just keep an eye on the exchange rates and top up over the internet when required using a bank debit card.
