In the USA there are countless places to buy desk chairs - and relatively cheaply. The only places I've seen here in Madrid are places which ONLY sell office furniture and the chairs seem to be these high-end, stylish chairs for hundreds and hundreds of Euros. Are there other options? Any recommendations?

I havent been to the Ikea in Madrid , but I reckon ther would be a good chance they would have one at a reasonable price .

eskimo joe, went to Ikea las year but they didn't have many office chairs at all and few (if any) were reclining, high-back roller chairs which is really what I'm looking for. I should've mentioned this in my original posting.

Doesn't something like an (American chain) "Office Max" or "Staples" exist in Madrid? At these places, they sell all kinds of desk & computer supplies like pens, paper, post-its, blank CDs, power strips, computers and printers, staplers, paper bins, folders, safes, and also office furniture.

Hi again, jazz! I did, in fact, get my high-back chair at the Merca Oficina location in Vallecas. They had dozens and dozens of office chairs, both new and used/refurbished, and pretty reasonable prices. The most expensive one was maybe 300 Euros but most were around 100 Euros.
