I just returned from a vacation in Guam - a beautiful island! Has anyone on the board been to Guam before?

Anyway, I visited the Plaza de Espana in the Tumon Bay area. For those that don't know, Guam was a Spanish island during the Spanish colonial era. Guam was under Spanish rule for about 300 years and then was given to America at the conclusion of the Spanish-American War. The Plaza de Espana was where the Spanish Govenor lived and was also the administrative post for Spain during Spanish rule. You can read more about this (and my trip, if you wish) on my web site - just click the link in my signature.

But the reason for my posting of this thread, is that I am interested in doing something to help the renevation of the Plaza de Espana. The Plaza has been renovated in years past but was damaged severely during World War II (the island fell to the Japanese and was recovered by America at the conclusion of WWII). I am currently working on an email/letter to the Senator of Guam and to my Arizona senators as well and planning to write the Parks Dept in Guam which has jurisdiction over the Plaza. If others are interested in helping, or writing your own emails also, or can offer any suggestions or advice in this endeavor, it is appreciated.

FYI ... this is the link for the Guam Parks and Rec web site if you wish to contact them directly - http://www.admin.gov.gu/dpr/hrdhome.html

It appears that this web site for the Parks Dept has not been updated for more than 5 years - I just tried emailing to persons listed on that site, but the mail accounts are inactive. I will post when I find new info.

Email me if you are interested in helping. laugh
