After the dreadful experience at Pension Dali , we lucked upon apartments managed by Hotel Lloret, (Rambla Canaletes, 125, near Placa Catalunya). We secured a two bedroom, one bathroom apartment located on Carrer Tallers, 19. The going rate was 120 euros a night, but we negotiated a 100 euro per night stay for three nights. The apartment had a very nice living room with a couch that made into a bed, (to sleep one). The second bedroom had two twin beds, and the main bedroom had a double bed. The bathroom was very nice. The apartment also had a small kitchen with a cook-top, toaster, blender, refrigerator, coffee maker and juice maker. The location was quiet, very secure and had an elevator to all floors of the apartment building. The apartment also included a washing machine!! Should we return to Barcelona, we will certainly consider this property. They can be contacted at www.bcn-accommodation.com

Could you elaborate on your experience at Dali? How were the rooms, the hosts and was the area safe to travel around in the night?

From my post on the Dali:
This truly is a pensione. If you are in your 20’s and do not mind the spartan accommodations, (and the strong cigarette smell), then this is your place. But given the hundreds of other accommodations in Barcelona, would not recommend staying here. The bedspreads appeared dirty and were frayed on the bottom. The mattresses sunk down to the box spring, providing no support what so ever. While the sheets appeared clean, we were very uncomfortable with a general un-cleanliness feel about this property. Further, the locks on the room doors did not appear as secure as I would have preferred. The rooms do have double pane windows, which helps shut out the sounds, but as this property is located at Boqueria,12, it is a very noisy location, even with the windows shut.
I hope this helps to answer your questions.
