A long time ago I remember telling Shawn (a MM board memember) about popular songs here in Spain in he chat room. He liked most of them.

I think it could be a good idea to suggest songs either here or through the chat room (that what we did) so member who like Spanish music can get updated with the music we usually hear nowadays in the radio.

People could get those songs through their favourite P2P program and, if they like the band / song, they may want to buy the CD.

Sabina, Bunbury, Los Secretos (survivors from "la movida"), Los Rodriguez (Extincts), La Cabra Mecánica, Rosendo,... oh, I'm afraid I'm not young enough.

I'm led to believe that Juanes (a Columbian singer) is very popular both here in Spain and in other Euro countries. I must admit I've never heard his music though. A song title that youngsters rave about is La camisa negra - again, I've not heard it so cannot comment.

You're right, Filbert, he's not Spanish but he's very popular here in Spain.

Here are the lyrics of La camisa negra

Quote:

cama cama caman baby
te digo con disimulo
que tengo la camisa negra
y debajo tengo el difunto
tengo la camisa negra
ya tu amor no me interesa
lo que ayer me supo a gloria
hoy me sabe a pura

A veces creo que he muerto

A veces creo que he vivido

Does anyone here know Amaral ?. They are very popular in Spain. Eva Amaral, the singer, has an amazing voice. Most of their songs have been played on radio.

Hello Antonio!

I remember that chat from a few years ago, I believe we were listening to Los Cuarenta Principales. If I recall correctly Alejandro Sanz's Cuando nadie me ve was one of the songs that we chatted about. That chat helped begin my own passion for Spanish music, a love that has ownly grown stronger with time, thank you Antonio.

The CD player in my car has capacity for six discs, four of the six are from Spain: Estopa, Jarabe de Palo, Alejandro Sanz, and El Ultimo de la Fila. I still try to listen to Spanish radio through the internet, but lately I haven't had a lot of time to do so. Hopefully, I'll be able to find a bit more time in the day.

Cheers from Los Angeles! smile

PS. As for Amaral, her hit song from 2002, Toda la Noche en la Calle, brings to mind many late nights during my year in Spain.

Hi Shawn. I'm glad to see you around again smile . For those of you who don't know him, Shawn loves Spain nearly as much as he loves his own country.

He likes the language, literature, art, music... whatever it is related to Spain.

Shawn, Toda la noche en la calle is part of Estrella de mar. It's a great album.

Now try El universo sobre mí and Días de verano from their latest album Pájaros en la cabeza.
