At my Spanish class at Instituto Cervantes in New York we've been watching Alejandro Amenábar's 1997 film " Abre Los Ojos " with Eduardo Noriega and Penélope Cruz. (Tom Cruise did a US remake, "Vanilla Sky").For anyone who hasn't seen the original, I recommend it highly.

It's a fantastic film. I liked Vanilla Sky as well but it's the sort of film that I have to ask "why?". Ok, I do know the answer to that but Vanilla Sky was so similar to the original that it seemed a bit pointless. It was interesting to see how Penélope Cruz would take on the exact same role though. The original has the bonus of Najwa Nimri and those amazing eyes of hers so must be far superior!
