Has anyone had experience using hand held two way radios in Spain. Mine say they are for use only in the US, but I'm wondering why I can't take them to Spain with me?

Its likely that the specific frequency that your radios use has been licensed for that particular use with the FCC, which regulates the public's airwaves (thats right, the air belongs to us!)in the USA. You may find that the frequencey that your radios broadcast at already occupied by local police or emergency services, cellular communications or maybe commercial stations in Spain or other countries that you travel in.

Good post Bill. I've wondered the same, as I'd like to get headsets for my bike trip next year. Perhaps I'll buy them there, and then give them as a gift to my family friends when I leave.

Does anyone have info about a global-compatible hand-held (Talkabout-style) radio?
