I know that my thoughts will be with the Spanish people tomorrow. The senseless loss of life was just tragic.

For me, it has been an emotional week. Tomorrow night on TVEi they're showing a kind of special on "One Year After 11M" and I'll watch and record it for sure. A somber day in Spain and the world to be sure.

Today, I'll be staying home to watch on TVEi the coverage of this day in Madrid history. At this very moment, noontime in Madrid, the Royals and other dignitaries are remembering those lost on March 11, 2004 with the inauguration of the "Bosque de los Ausentes" in Madrid's Retiro Park.

It's been quite interesting to see the reaction from people here in Madrid on this sad day. Last night I attended a concert that featured music from many religions and was dedicated as 'un concierto de paz'. It was a beautiful and sad remeberance of what happened one year ago, including the incredibly movin letter that they read, written by a father to his son who died in the attacks.

However, I was sadly disappointed in my school (ICADE). I had class from 11.30 to 12.30 today and assumed that when 12.00 arrived we would stop and have a moment of silence with the rest of the country. Not so. The professor didn't even flinch, despite the fact that you could hear the church bells tolling and could tell that it was noticeably quieter outside on the street all of a sudden...

Wow. That is a surprise, mse924. At noon on TVEi, they were showing live video of schools all around Spain which groups of children pausing during the 5-minutes of silence.

Saludos, MadridMan

I was stunned. I honestly thought about getting up and walking out of the room so that I could go pay my respects.

My only justification for the professor's actions is the fact that the class was filled with mostly foreign and Erasmus students. Still...
