Aranjuez has a wide variety of choices for accommodations and food, especially for a city its size. Hostal Infantas , Av. Infantas, 4-6, will be on your left when your back is to the bus station. All the rooms have sinks, TV, and phones, and doubles with shower or bath have A/C. (918 91 13 41; fax 918 91 66 43. Singles €13.50, with shower €21, with bath €23.50; doubles €23/€38/€40. MC/V.) The rooms at Hostal Castilla , Ctra. Andalucía, 98, face a garden terrace and several have been recently renovated. All have TV, A/C, telephone, bath. (918 91 26 27; fax 918 91 61 33. Hostal Castilla
On one of the town's main streets north of the Royal Palace and gardens, the Castilla consists of the ground floor and part of the first floor of a well-preserved early 18th-century house. Most of the accommodations overlook a courtyard with a fountain and flowers. All units contain well-kept bathrooms with shower-tub combinations. Owner Martín Soria, who speaks English fluently, suggests that reservations be made at least a month in advance. There are excellent restaurants nearby, and the hostal has an arrangement with a neighboring bar to provide guests with an inexpensive lunch. This is a good location from which to explore either Madrid or Toledo on a day trip. Parking is available along the street.
