Any suggestions for a place to stay in Aranjuez? We'll be coming in from Granada en route to Madrid. But this time we'll play it safe (there were so many detours and "rush hour" traffic as we approached Madrid last time) and return our car to Barajas.

Hi Carole Chiaro!

While I have no doubt there are a handful of "hostales" in Aranjuez, only two have websites. They are Hostal Castilla & Hostal Rusiñol .

The Let\'s Go: Spain, Portugal, and Morocco - page about Aranjuez for accommodation states:
Quote:
Accommodations (and Food - edited out here)
Aranjuez has a wide variety of choices for accommodations and food, especially for a city its size. Hostal Infantas , Av. Infantas, 4-6, will be on your left when your back is to the bus station. All the rooms have sinks, TV, and phones, and doubles with shower or bath have A/C. (918 91 13 41; fax 918 91 66 43. Singles €13.50, with shower €21, with bath €23.50; doubles €23/€38/€40. MC/V.) The rooms at Hostal Castilla , Ctra. Andalucía, 98, face a garden terrace and several have been recently renovated. All have TV, A/C, telephone, bath. (918 91 26 27; fax 918 91 61 33. Singles €33; doubles €40.) The same owners run Hostal Rusiñol on C. San Antonio with fewer amenities and cheaper prices. (918 91 01 55.)
Frommer\'s site on Aranjuez: Accommodation only lists:
Quote:

Hostal Castilla
On one of the town's main streets north of the Royal Palace and gardens, the Castilla consists of the ground floor and part of the first floor of a well-preserved early 18th-century house. Most of the accommodations overlook a courtyard with a fountain and flowers. All units contain well-kept bathrooms with shower-tub combinations. Owner Martín Soria, who speaks English fluently, suggests that reservations be made at least a month in advance. There are excellent restaurants nearby, and the hostal has an arrangement with a neighboring bar to provide guests with an inexpensive lunch. This is a good location from which to explore either Madrid or Toledo on a day trip. Parking is available along the street.

Facilities:
Lounge; laundry/dry cleaning

Address: Carretera Andalucía 98
Location: Around Town
Phone: 91-891-26-27
Room Information: 22 units
Prices: 45€ double. Rates include breakfast
Credit Cards: AE, DC, MC, V
In Room Amenities: A/C, TV
Good luck and please keep us posted on what you decide and how you liked it. Thanks!

Saludos, MadridMan

Thanks, MM. High tech site for Hostal Castilla, don't you think??

We need a stopover between Granada and Madrid but I just realized that, unless we're willing to sacrifice a night in Madrid (NOT!), we have only one night AND we must return our car to Barajas before noon the following day. Therefore, I'm looking at the options.--CC
