Where in Spain are you visiting? Every region has their own specialty.
I, personally, like the white wines of Galicia including the Ribeiros and Albariños - these are great, summerwines served very cold. But the Ruedas of Castilla y León are also good, inexpensive whites. Read a good description of Rueda wines and its region

I should tell you that Ruedas and (at least) Albariños are relatively easily found in the USA. Ribeiro not so easy.
