Hi MadridMan, thanks for info, we are travelling to jerez for the world equestrian games, we have an apartment in Arcos for three weeks, then we will head off somewhere for the last week, we thought we might look at Gibralta, or any other suggestions? we are due to fly out of Madrid, 4th of October.

Why not Madrid for your last week? You could make a day trip or two to surrounding cities and towns. It might be a nice change from Andalucía.

Cadiz is definatly worth a visit. since it was fouded in 1110 B.C. it is the oldest city in the western world (at least that is what I read). If You like horse races Sanlucar de Barrameda has the oldest races that are august 16-18 and the 29-31.
